Toy Packing

23 Vero volunteers in the Melbourne, Sydney and Perth offices helped the Smith Family with toy packing during August. The full day involved unloading containers full of toys and books for the Christmas appeal and the Learning for Life program. One volunteer said, "It was very interesting to learn about the charity and how the toy packs and Christmas hampers are delivered. It was sad to think about all of the disadvantaged children and families... the warehouse was full of boxes. However, knowing that all of the boxes would be delivered to those in need was inspiring".

National Literacy and Numeracy Week

Volunteers from the Melbourne office also assisted The Smith Family during their National Literacy and Numeracy Week, by donating books for inclusion in the Christmas toy packs. Vero was one of 20 corporate partners who were involved in The Smith Family's first National Volunteering Week. Nationally, more than 460 volunteers donated around 2,000 hours of their time to help The Smith Family in preparation for Christmas 2006. The Smith Family sent a special thank you note to volunteers in the Melbourne office for contributing to the success of the event and for their ongoing support of The Smith Family.

Trivia Night – Brisbane

Brisbane held a trivia night for the Smith Family Learning for Life program in April. Vero staff, family, friends and brokers headed to the Pig N Whistle Riverside for a night of many laughs, raising $730 for the Smith Family.

Nine teams battled it out to become the Smith Family-Verogive Trivia Champion. First place went to the Vero Claims team, John Jolliffe (CPF Surveyor) and friends came a close second, and third prize went to Peter Ryan, Ellie Hazelwood and their Profin brokers.

Some other Profin colleagues were not so lucky, with Adam Carter and Brooke Hayward and their team receiving the wooden spoon!

The night was a great success with lots of fun and friendly rivalry amongst the participants. Thanks goes to the trivia master Nick Jones of Claims Services for providing many brainteasers and to all the Vero staff who attended the night.
