Bushland Bees Wins First $10,000 Business Grant
Congratulations Bushland Bees!
We have had an overwhelming response to our $10,000 grant competition and, after much deliberation, our panel of business experts have chosen Bushland Bees as the winner of the first business grant.
Bushland Bees want to design and manufacture a mobile honey extraction van, capable of reaching out to remote farming areas in Northern Australia and allow them to harvest and store honey on site.
This will negate the need to remove honey frames, take them to an external facility for processing and then return them (a time-consuming exercise that’s not ideal for the bees). This innovation will allow onsite processing within the hour.
Our judges all agreed that this was an out of the box approach with cool innovation that would speed up the honey extraction process and ultimately be better for the bees. They also agreed businesses trying to start in rural communities often face a lot more difficulties and unseen challenges so it’s great to see innovation like this.

I would like to say a HUGE thank you to Vero Insurance. We are sincerely appreciative to be the recipients of the Business Success Grant, we couldn’t have asked for a better opportunity to assist us in growing our business vision.
The $10,000 prize money will go towards the purchase of some of our harvesting equipment, along with the guidance from The Entourage – I am certain this will give us a strong foundation for setting up our new company. Thank you once again for this un-bee-lievable opportunity (sorry, had to throw in a bee pun).
Bushland Bees also receives a 6 month membership to The Entourage valued at $8,400.
