2019 RM Advancer Awards Winners announced

By  Vero Insurance

Australia’s premier risk management awards were held last week at Sydney’s Ovolo Hotel, with brokers and their clients attending the prestigious gala evening.

Rapid Plas, based in Tamworth NSW, received this year’s award in the Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) category for their investments in risk management and safety training to ensure risks are properly understood and minimised in a factory that employs 70 local staff manufacturing residential, agricultural and commercial polyethylene products.

Aurizon, Australia’s largest rail freight operator took out the major prize in the Commercial category. The company has invested in innovative technologies, delivering remarkable improvements in rail fleet safety and productivity.

This year, the Workers Compensation and Liability award was split into two categories. Collins Foods was named winner of the goods and service providers category, impressing judges with robust safety management systems and staff awareness campaigns to improve safety culture across their 250 restaurants, which include popular brands such as KFC and Taco Bell.

A timber processing company headquartered in regional Victoria, AKD Softwoods, was presented with the manufacturing and logistics category award. AKD Softwoods was recognised for the work they’ve done to create a safety-focused culture among employees and their investments in engineering solutions to make workplace safer.

“Putting effective risk management practices in place not only helps prevent serious accidents and injuries, it can also improve business performance. By focusing on the highest levels of safety for everyone, risk aware companies are showing the way for industry all over Australia,” said Mr Gary Dransfield, CEO Insurance at Suncorp.

“With so many Australian enterprises now demonstrating their passion and belief in the benefits of better risk management, I am more than confident in the certain future of these awards.”

This fourteenth edition of the awards demonstrates Australian industry’s increasing awareness of the benefits of efficient risk engineering and the rewards that can accrue from its application across industries of all sizes. Our winners not only receive the recognition of their peers and industry-wide publicity – they also receive 200,000 Velocity frequent flyer points.

Congratulations to the 2019 RM Advancer Award winners:
